The Ascona Pizza Company advertises its online job application process at its location in Danville, Calif., on Monday, May 9, 2016. The East Bay added 1,800 health care jobs, 1,400 in restaurants and hotels, and 1,400 in retail. Even the long-battered construction sector added 1,400 jobs in July. Santa Clara County saw flat activity in tech, but plenty of other industries stepped up their hiring pace. Private education services gained 2,300 jobs, health care added 1,400 and manufacturing increased by 1,300 jobs, while restaurants and hotels added 900 jobs, the Beacon analysis showed. “With all the jobs being created in tech, that is now driving growth in other industries,” said Mark Vitner, a senior economist with San Francisco-based Wells Fargo. The San Francisco-San Mateo region was led by the high-tech industry, which added 3,000 jobs in July, and health care, which gained 1,000. “Tech is still very strong throughout the Bay Area,” said Robert Kleinhenz, executive director of research with Beacon Economics. “We think demand for tech jobs will be strong enough that there will be a continued skills shortage in tech.” California added 36,400 positions in July — with the Bay Area accounting for 73 percent of all jobs created in the Golden State. “The Bay Area is getting more than its fair share of the job growth in California,” said Jon Haveman, principal economist with San Rafael-based Marin Economic Consulting. The statewide unemployment rate worsened to 5.5 percent, compared with 5.4 percent in June. Job trends and the unemployment rate can move in different directions in a month because they are derived from different surveys.have a peek at this website
